Reporting to parents

The following SBSR4 report templates are available to guide schools in making a decision about the use of SBSR4 and to assist them to select a report format to use within the software. The first template in each year group provides an example of the minimum components needed to comply with the policy for those students. A second template, in each group, provides additional elements to the reports. Each report template also has variations to provide reports for students with learning adjustments or ESL.

Schools can also choose to download and use these 'Word' documents to manually enter student achievement and comments instead of using the SBSR4 software for generating reports.

These 'Word' documents can be used to generate other report variants. Schools can copy sections from one reporting template to another to generate a reporting variant.

Should a school wish to highlight the NAPLAN test in Years 3 and 5 the following statement can be included on the front page of the student report:

"In September, you received a report on your child’s performance on the NAPLAN.

The Student Report shows how your child performed on the test compared with other students in the nation and what band he or she achieved in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy

The Additional Student Report 2008, for students in NSW public schools, also shows:

  • the average result for students at your child’s school in each test
  • which questions and criteria he or she had correct, and which ones were incorrect or did not attempt"
