Reporting to parents

Professional reading

The policy Curriculum planning and programming, assessing and reporting to parents K-12 requires schools to report student achievement to parents using a five point scale (A-E or equivalent word descriptors) and include a written comment for each subject studied.

This one day workshop addresses reporting requirements and also provides support to teachers with assessment strategies linked to the NSW Quality Teaching Framework. Teachers can use these in their school to assess their students and include in their reports to parents. The workshop content will provide strategies and processes to build capacity within a localised school setting. The aim is for schools to produce quality reports to parents, reflecting the department’s reporting policy.
Effective assessment and reporting elements for classroom teachers is especially beneficial for New Scheme Teachers. This workshop will look at K-12 issues and then break into primary and secondary sessions with hands on practical ideas, strategies and development of assessment tasks.
