Sample reports have been provided
to show examples of reports that meet the new policy requirements
for reporting to parents K – 12. The new requirements
will ensure greater consistency in the way schools report
to parents and make it easier for parents to understand their
child’s achievement and progress.
The report models have several important features including
a common performance scale, academic and non-academic information
and teacher comments that together describe to parents a student’s
achievement and progress.
Following concern from schools and parents about the requirement
to report students in quartile bands, the Minister decided
that the comparison of the student to their peer group will
be made available to parents on request to the school. The peer group information will show the number of children in the group in each of the achievement levels.
All report models shown comply with the new policy. The first
primary format provides an example of the minimum components
needed to comply with the policy for Years 1 – 6 students.
The first Kindergarten format provides an example of the minimum
components needed to comply with the policy for Kindergarten
students.
