Report Comments
These annotated sample comments are designed to be used with teachers as discussion points and are not intended to be used as actual report comments. Consider the tone, sentence structure, way the areas of improvement have been structured. For discussion purposes, these samples are from English and Year Advisers. Secondary comment starters have been developed for teachers to use within their reports, and teachers need to select the relevant comment and then ensure it is personalised for each student.

Darren’s oral presentations are improving and his research to develop his Shakespeare review was impressive. Areas for development include widening the range of fiction and media texts he is currently reading to gain a deeper understanding. Darren can use his reading texts as models to increase his skills in writing, as well as taking time for editing and proofreading before submitting assessment tasks.
Secondary Year Adviser’s Comment
Emma is a valuable member of the Year 8 cohort. She continues to maintain a high standard of application across all her subject areas. Emma has a pleasing attendance record. She has shown good community spirit taking part in charity fundraising . Well done Emma.
