| A: Exploring Our Place ~ K-6 multistage |
Connection focus for each stage:
ES1: observing, exploring and responding to the immediate natural and built environment The use of a place or space depends on people’s needs. Our environment needs to be safe, appreciated, respected and cared for.
S1: exploring our relationship with the natural, built and heritage environments in our local area, considering how we interact with, and modify, our local environment.
S2: observing and interpreting the environment considering its significance, planning and design. The impact our interactions have on different environments needs to be considered.
S3: exploring the natural, built and heritage environments as they impact upon people’s lifestyle choices, leisure and artistic expression. Our actions impact upon the environment and have implications for the future. |

| D: Making Choices and Working Together ~ K-6 multistage |
Connection focus for each stage:
ES1: making informed and positive health choices by learning about nutrition, preventative health strategies and how the sun’s energy can affect us.
S1: developing a network of people we can trust helps to keep us safe. We make choices in our lives based on our needs, values and beliefs, combined with an understanding of the roles, rights and responsibilities of community members.
S2: communicating with each other and within groups. Learning to negotiate in group work through class-based decision making activities provides a foundation for understanding democratic process at a whole school, community and local government level.
S3: understanding roles and responsibilities in the decision making process as it affects all aspects of our lives. By analysing and valuing different perspectives we are able to make informed choices and contribute to the democratic process. |

Connection focus for each stage:
ES1: understanding how and why, rules, routines and products are developed to meet our needs.
S1: investigating how we generate and use products and services that meet our needs and wants.
S2: exploring how and why production systems are developed, and the people involved in these systems. We consider aesthetics, function, environment and community impact when developing and using products, services and systems.
S3: understanding the many links that exist between people, places and resources on a local and global level. We are influenced by and have an impact on other cultures, countries, issues and trends. Political and social issues provide sources of ideas for creating statements in a range of art forms. |

| H: Understanding each other/symbol systems ~ K-6 multistage |
Connection focus for each stage:
S1: understanding how cultural diversity influences our beliefs, values and connection to place and people. This can be expressed through objects, songs, dances and stories.
S2: exploring different cultures, customs, viewpoints and types of relationships in order to better understand each other. An additional focus is investigating our place in the solar system.
S3: understanding that symbols can be personal, cultural and global. We use symbols to communicate in many ways including art, product design, different media and movement. The cultural diversity of Australia provides opportunities for us to explore different symbol systems. |

| C:Exploring growth and change ~ K-6 multistage |
Connection focus for each stage:
S1: understanding that living things grow and change over time, in cycles and in stages. Human communities also grow and change over time.
S2: understanding the impact of change from historical perspectives and on the life cycles of living things. Our bodies are complex systems that rely on many factors to grow and to function.
S3: exploring the physical, social and emotional changes associated with growth. Our history records changes in communities and environments. Living things and environments interconnect and change within ecosystems. Creative processes involve change and refinement. |

ES1/S1: understanding that cultural activities, objects, songs, dances and stories express beliefs, values and a connection to place and people.
S2: exploring the impact of British colonisation and how it has shaped Australia.
S3: exploring events in Australia’s past to better understand how our history shapes and influences us. The impact of significant events, inclusive of Aboriginal history, develops our understanding of democracy. |

ES1: developing an understanding of who we are by exploring what we have in common with others, and what is unique. How we express ourselves and communicate with others is part of our identity.
S1: exploring the many groups that have different roles in our lives, including family groups, special interest groups and community groups. We can better understand others by understanding what is similar and unique about our families and groups to which we belong.
S2: exploring the impact of British colonisation and how it has shaped Australia.

| F: Ready set go! Things that move ~ K-6 multistage |
Connection focus for each stage:
ES1: learning to coordinate and control movement. Movement can produce an effect on our bodies. Energy is used to move objects. Sensory responses can lead to creative action.
S1: exploring the relationship between force and movement in physical activity, the arts and science.
S2: understanding different forms and sources of energy and the flow of energy through movement. The physical movement of machines is the stimulus for many creative works.
S3: understanding that energy can be transferred, stored and transformed from one form to another. |
