The School Magazine Teaching Units
From 2009, the School Magazine Teaching Units are published with every issue of Countdown, Blast Off, Orbit and Touchdown, starting with Issue #1, February 2009.
The School Magazine Teaching Units aim to provide guidance to teachers using The School Magazine to teach reading and enhance literacy skills. The Teaching Units support the teaching of the NSW K-6 English syllabus, and outcomes in other Stage 2 and 3 syllabuses.
Each Teaching Unit contains four class sessions with accompanying worksheets for students.

Interested in writing for The School Magazine Teaching Units?
If you're an experienced 3-6 teacher or educational writer, with interesting and practical ideas about how to use The School Magazine in the classroom, we invite you to submit an expression of interest (EOI) for placement on our eligibility list of Teaching Unit writers. Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Teaching experience in the primary classroom
- Familiarity with the English K-6 syllabus
- Excellent writing skills, including a strong grasp of English grammar and punctuation.
