Orbit

Orbit publishes the highest quality fiction, plays, poetry, visual texts and articles. If your 10-11 year old readers are crying out for excitement, suspense, humour, pathos and drama in their reading material, Orbit will be a winner.

Orbit readers are passionate about their cool mascot, Mungo, and his clever chooks. Dita von Niblett (pictured above) is a universal favourite. Their magazine, Orbit, corresponds to Stage 3 in the NSW K–6 curriculum.
Mungo gets a lot of mail and his laid-back, super cool attitude is definitely infectious with year 5 readers!
"Dear Mungo, I love all the chickens but I like Kerouac the most because he is the only rooster. I guess he has to look after all the others. My class and I are the first to ever read the Orbit mag in our school. I used to hate reading, but not now I read your mag." (Matt, Orbit reader 2008)
"Dear Mungo, I personally love you and your chickens. I can't wait till the next magazine is out and ready to roll. I would say that I'm a bit like Mervyn. Hey, when she reads, does she like to sit in a quiet place all to herself? I know I do." (Ankita, Orbit reader 2008)
Mungo has acquired three new chooks who made their School Magazine debut in 2009! Readers met Fangio, Mia-Jiao and Lugosi in February.
Because each issue of Orbit is unique, readers could enjoy this level of the magazine for two years in a row if they were not ready to move on to Touchdown, the most advanced title of The School Magazine..
