We strongly encourage all potential contributors to familiarise themselves with copies of our magazines before submitting material. Hardcopy submissions should be posted to:

We do not accept email submissions (other than queries for nonfiction articles). Our response time is approximately 4-6 weeks and all our correspondence with you is by email. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE AN EMAIL ADDRESS WITH ALL MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS. Further enquiries can be emailed to school.magazine@det.nsw.edu.au
Illustrators
Illustrators eligibility list for 2010 is now CLOSED
From 1 July to 1 October each year, The School Magazine updates its eligibility list for occasional or regular commissioned work for issues of The School Magazine. An invitation to apply will appear here in June 2010. Before you apply, we suggest you familiarise yourself with our publication (copies are held in many children's libraries, as well as in university and state libraries).
Expressions of interest from artists who feel they have the appropriate skills and experience to illustrate literary texts for children will next be called for from 1 July 2010 to 1 October 2010. When you apply, you will need to send (i) a short CV/cover letter and (ii) a CD or hardcopy of relevant examples from your portfolio to:
