Curriculum support for NSW Public Schools

Professional Learning Program 2009

During  2009 the Science Unit will present the following workshops across NSW.
Below is a brief description of the focus of the workshop and a brief workshop description including workshop dates and locations.

 Workshop: Laptops for Learning - Science

The focus of these one day workshops is on pedagogies that support quality learning through the use of laptops as an effective tool for teaching and learning in Stage 5 Science. The workshop will explore applications relevant to developing knowledge and understanding and addressing the practical demands of the NSW Science Years 7 - 10 syllabus.

A registration fee of $110 (incl. GST) per day for government schools will be charged for each participant.

This fee includes morning tea and lunch and all workshop materials.

  • Teachers who wish to register for any of the advertised workshops need to be approved by the Principal to attend.
  • Cost of teacher relief should be met through school professional learning funds.
  • Registrations close five working days before the scheduled workshop.
  • Students must be accompanied by a Science Teacher who will register their class.
  • Video conference events are free of charge.

About registration

Our online registration facility  is now available. The information provided here is to help with your planning over 2009.

Payment methods

Payment by direct debit

All NSW Government schools will have their school accounts direct debited by Finance Directorate.

Payment by cheque or credit card : non-government schools and intitutions

  1. Once you have filled in the registration form an email will be sent with a payment section
  2. Fill in all relevant details
  3. Send to the address at the bottom of the form with cheque attached, if appropriate or credit card details.
Cancellation

If a workshop is to be cancelled then notification will be made on these pages. The notification of cancellation will be made at least 2 days before the workshop date.

If there is no notification of cancellation, then the workshop will run.

Costs:

A fee will be charged to cover expenses of conducting the workshop, the fees are listed below. For some programs funded from external sources, there will be no charge.

For a 1 day workshop

Government school teachers: $110 including GST
Government regional and state office staff: $100

Nongovernment schools where eligible for registration will be charged at a rate of $220 per day.
