Road safety education consultancy support
Road Safety Education Program
The NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) has ten road safety education consultants. These officers are responsible for the delivery of road safety education professional development and curriculum support to teachers in primary schools and high schools. They also provide Departmental policy advice to schools about road safety and review school road safety management practices to achieve a safe school environment.
All staffing and operational costs of the DET Road Safety Education Program are funded by the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) as part of the NSW Road Safety Education Program.

Program aims
The DET Road Safety Education Program supports the RTA’s Road Safety 2010 framework, with its aim to substantially reduce traffic-related crashes and injuries on NSW roads.
