How does AFL Sport Education relate to the School to Work program?
The AFL Sport Education Program can be used as a vehicle to identify Employment Related Skills in PDHPE. The program provides students with the opportunity to engage in ‘real life’ roles that would normally be assumed by those in AFL club environments. Each role has a clear description of the specific duties to be undertaken and personal skills required to execute the role successfully. Students can use this information in completing their ‘School to Work – Employment Related Skills Logbook’. Through the AFL Sport Education Program, students develop a range of skills that can be easily transferred to the workforce.
The School to Work links mapping grid provides teachers with an example of the skills that can be transferred to the Employment Related Skill Logbook from participation in AFL Sport Education program. A blank mapping proforma has also been made available for students to track the Employment Related Skills they develop throughout the AFL Sport Education program.
