The school assessment advice for the Stage 6 Mathematics and extension courses refer to a component of assessment concerned with reasoning, interpretation, explanation, and communication abilities, known as Component B. This practical, open problem could form the basis of a challenging and interesting Component B assessment task for Mathematics Extension 2.
