Professional learning

Research, curriculum and professional learning are all interrelated in the mathematics projects carried out in schools.

Professional learning activities 

During 2009, Curriculum K-12 Mathematics will be presenting one-day, two-day and video conference format workshops for mathematics teachers, supplementing the workshops provided by regional consultants. While the  Creating Mathematical Partnerships workshops target all teachers of mathematics, the Leading and managing the mathematics curriculum workshops target mathematics head teachers and teachers aspiring to be head teachers.

New courses include Engaging students in mathematics 7-10, a workshop designed specifically for teachers who are currently teaching mathematics but whose teaching method is not mathematics. GeoGebra for beginners, for all mathematics teachers, aims to increase the use of technology in the mathematics classroom. This workshop is offered in an innovative video conference format. Laptops for learning in mathematics workshops aim to engage teachers in learning activities and strategies to teach mathematics when every student in the class has a laptop computer.

Curriculum Support is a quarterly publication produced by Curriculum K-12 Directorate for the teachers of NSW government schools in the interest of professional learning.
