Information for teachers

All teachers of Languages are urged to take advantage of the opportunities offered by both foreign government awards programs and the Australian Commonwealth Government. The demands of essential, everyday interaction in another language provide the crucial broadening and deepening of language competencies that upper-level skills require.

Endeavour Language Teacher Fellowships 2012

The Endeavour Language Teacher Fellowships (ELTF) is a commonwealth program which offers scholarships for teachers of Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Bahasa Indonesia.
Applications have closed for 2012 Fellowships.

Additional scholarships for teachers of German and Spanish

Scholarships are offered to both primary and secondary teachers for German and Spanish for short-term or long-term stays. Costs of tuition and accommodation are usually met by the hosting government, with the Department of Education and Training contributing towards travel costs (for government school teachers only).

University of Granada
11-29 July 2011
Teachers of Spanish in government schools can apply for travel assistance to Spain to attend the course on methodolgy at the University of Granada. Closing date is 12 May 2011.

Goethe-Institut Sociocultural Scholarships 2012/2013
The Goethe-Institut, in cooperation with the NSW Curriculum and Learning Innovation Centre, is offering a limited number of scholarships to primary and secondary teachers of German to enable them to update their knowledge and skills in an in-country context. The focus of the seminars will be on socio-cultural understanding and the skills and methodology used in the teaching of German as a foreign language.
