Students are immersed in the total Japanese experience which is the Tanken Centre. From their initial welcome to the last goodbye, all communication is in Japanese.
Students work and play their way through a four hour program of activities that extend their listening, speaking and reading skills in Japanese. Some activities are individual but the overall emphasis is on teamwork.
A technology task is part of the day’s program in which students use computers to create a slide show in Japanese. A recording is made of each student’s work and a final presentation allows students to read and hear all of the works created by the group.
A mid-morning snack is provided. At lunchtime, students eat in the Japanese garden. They may bring their own lunch or an obentoo is pre-ordered for them.
Pre –excursion materials are provided to prepare the students for their immersion experience.
The Post-excursion package gives students the opportunity to complete the follow-up activities.
