Zou ba! is an online course for NSW government high schools offering courses in Chinese (Mandarin).

It is published by the Professional Support and Curriculum Directorate of the NSW Department of Education and Training. Zou ba! can be integrated with any beginners junior high school Chinese course. It can also be used as the core component of a Chinese course or in distance education. Zou ba! includes both interactive online tasks and offline tasks. Zou ba! is being trialled in nine schools in 2002. From 2003, Zou ba! will be available on application to all NSW high schools offering courses in Chinese. Support for Stage 6 Chinese Beginners Syllabus

Phase 1 sample unit of work and assessment tasks were developed collaboratively by teachers, consultants and advisers from the NSW Department of Education and Training and the Association of Independent Schools NSW. Phase 2 sample unit of work and assessment tasks were developed collaboratively by teachers, consultants and advisers from the NSW Department of Training. The development of these materials was guided by the Board of Studies NSW document, Stage 6 Languages Beginners Syllabuses, Advice on Programming and Assessment.

The materials reflect a variety of approaches to programming and assessment for the revised syllabuses and remain open to discussion.

To the best of my knowledge, the websites and books listed in the materials contain no controversial information or links.  However, it is always best to check these for yourself before recommending them to students.

Permission has been granted for all images and works included in the materials.

Teachers should always check all agencies/organisations before dealing with them.
