The Indigenous Languages Institute 2008

In July, the Indigenous Languages Institute is being held at the Koori Centre at the University of Sydney and organised by the Koori Centre in conjunction with the NSW Department of Education and Training and the NSW Office of the Board of Studies. Among the plenary speakers will be Stan Grant Sr, well known in NSW as a Wiradjuri Elder and a crucial force in Wiradjuri language work. Other speakers include Ron Ignace, a member of the Secwepemc Nation, who has published widely on Secwepemc language and Chair of the Canadian Task Force on Aboriginal Languages and Cultures, and Dana Ober, a Saibai linguist with expert knowledge of the culture and history of the Torres Strait.
