HSC English Prescriptions 2009-2012 teacher support project

In 2007-2008, the English Unit in the Curriculum K-12 Directorate of the NSW Department of Education and Training has managed a project to support DET English teachers in implementing HSC English Prescriptions 2009-2012. This project has involved teams of teachers and consultants from all ten regions in NSW developing 14 model units of work for the Standard, Advanced and ESL courses and 7 Unit Starters for the Extension 1 course.

In writing the model units of work, the English Unit in conjunction with the writing teams has developed a process and template. English teachers are encouraged to use this tried and tested process and template to assist them in developing their own units of work in response to the new Prescriptions. Also available is a tool for evaluating units of work, a means of further ensuring the quality of units developed by teachers.

These same teachers and consultants conducted workshops across NSW during 2008 to further support the implementation of the new Prescriptions.
