Workshops 2008

New Ways into Stage 6 English

New Ways into Stage 6 English for the Extension 1 course.

English and ESL teachers are presented with a significant challenge in the form of the recently released document, HSC English Prescriptions 2009-2012, which operates from Term 4 2008. This workshop will help teachers to prepare for this challenge and give their students the best chance of success in the HSC in the Extension 1 course.

A video conference for the Standard, Advanced and ESL course is scheduled for 3 July, 2008 and bookings for this may be made at the link below.

In this course you will:

  • learn about HSC English Prescriptions 2009-2012, how it compares to the current Prescriptions and what threats and opportunities this document presents
  • be introduced to, and interact with, a range of resources developed as models for teachers
  • gain insight into the process used to develop quality units of work and apply this process in developing a quality unit of work for your own school context
  • discuss how the ETA resource, In the driver’s seat, is being used in schools and ways in which the Preliminary course might be designed to prepare students for an HSC course built on the new Prescriptions.
