Definitions
The Internet: a collection of networks linked together via communication devices and media.
The web: a virtual network of pages of information on computers linked across the internet. It allows exchange of text, graphics, audio and video over the internet.
Search engine: a searchable database of internet files collected by a computer program. There are no selection criteria for the collection of files, though evaluation is applicable to the ranking of results.
Deep web: also known as invisible web, deep web is a system for searching subject-specific databases. The deep web can locate non-textural files such as multimedia and graphical files and documents in non-standard formats such as PDF.
