State of the arts: Curriculum essentials for secondary teachers

This year there are plenty of new curriculum initiatives and issues that will have an impact on arts classrooms. These include:

• arts in the national curriculum
• HSC changes 2010
• the digital revolution – arts pedagogy and laptops
• NAPLAN – how literacy and numeracy taught through the arts may value-add to results
• copyright and you – your classroom and performance responsibilities

Videoconference forums will be conducted during the year to promote awareness of these issues, and new initiatives in arts education. The proposed agenda for each forum is provided below. Two weeks prior to each forum, stimulus questions and material will be posted here.
