School Libraries and Information Literacy virtual conferences

This Webpage offers connection to moderated conferences that offer teacher-librarians and teachers the opportunity to participate in free access symposiums over the Internet. Special keynote speakers and background papers provide the basis for participants to discuss and exchange ideas.

To date there have been two virtual conferences organised. Click on the title link below to access the relevant virtual proceedings.

Virtual conference 1
Searching the Internet

Our first virtual conference Searching the Internet was held in 1999. The conference focussed on the difficulties students encounter when searching for online information. Teaching strategies for assisting students in the process were identified. The conference papers and the discussion can be viewed by clicking the heading above.

Virtual conference 2
Using authentic texts

The second virtual conference commenced on 28 May 2001 and explored the ways in which teachers and teacher-librarians can use resources to support the development of student literacy. The conference papers and the discussion can be viewed by clicking the heading above.
