School Libraries and Information Literacy Scan Research columns
Scan's regular Research columns feature is refereed by Dr Ross J. Todd, former Head of Department of Information Studies, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. Ross is Associate Professor, School of Communication, Information and Library Studies at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA and is the Director of Research for the Centre for International Scholarship in School Libraries (CISSL) at Rutgers University.
The purpose of this column is to feature current research in information literacy and the role of the teacher-librarian. It gives emphasis to the implications of research for practice, and how the research can be integrated meaningfully into practice.The development of information literate students is a central concern for teacher-librarians and teachers. The research is designed to encourage greater reflection on practice and the implementation of quality teaching and an evidence based practice approach.
