School Libraries professional learning workshops 2008
The School Libraries and Information Literacy workshops in Semester 1 and Semester 2, 2008 provide support for teacher-librarians and SAOs. Suggestions for future workshops, and components you would like included in the planned workshop in your area, are welcome. Send your requests to Colleen.Foley@det.nsw.edu.au
Some workshops are as follows:
OASIS Library & SCISWeb
This one day introductory course provides an overview of the functions and modules of OASIS Library and using SCISWeb for teacher-librarians and SAOs. If you would like to request a workshop on Stocktake please contact colleen.foley@det.nsw.edu.au. You can also download the Stocktake document (intranet only). See also the article in Scan 23(4) November 2004 pp. 40-41 for brief reminders and summary information.
Programming and planning K-12
Sessions are included on: Quality Teaching for teacher-librarians; raps; COGs; advanced use of SCIS; resources supporting teaching and learning; programming; and practical collaborative strategies.
The workshops are available in a range of areas across the state. To check the workshop closest to you go to the registration page. Once you have registered, confirmation and details regarding venues will be sent to you.
Primary teacher librarians supporting literacy and COGS in their schools may be interested in attending one of the English K-6 programming support workshops in partnership with another teacher.
Teacher librarians may also be interested in attending various workshops provided by KLA and cross curriculum areas of Curriculum K-12 Directorate. It may be a good opportunity to collaborate or extend understandings of areas you like to support.
School administrative and support staff may be interested in learning opportunities made available to school-based staff who directly support the work of schools. See a list of available programs, including Working in the library (for SAS staff).
