Computer networks in a school
What role does the library play in the school's computer network?
The teacher-librarian has an essential role to play in the implementation of a whole school computer network. Think about becoming a member of the technology committee or team developing the plan for the whole school network. The school technology plan, including strategies for managing maintenance is a whole school responsibility. Visiting other schools which have established computer networks can provide useful ideas and approaches. Your area network can help you identify schools which could be visited.
What about OASIS Library and a computer network?
Many schools have networked both OASIS Library and other systems. Networking OASIS around the school increases access to the library's services, and can therefore be an important consideration in developing a whole school network. This could be one of the things you investigate when you are visiting or talking to other schools about their networks.
