What is types of equipment do I need to teach gymnastics?

The equipment needed to teach gymnastics can be as simple as the fixtures that are already in place in the school. Fixed equipment such as benches, seats, jumping pits, paths, line markings, kerbing, slopes, climbing equipment and bars are all useful in the teaching of gymnastics.

The following portable equipment is also useful for gymnastic activities and can often be easily located around most schools:

  • CD player and music
  • padded mats
  • beatboard, springboard or mini-trampoline (ensure has protective cover over springs)
  • markers, witches hats, domes, cones
  • different-sized balls
  • desks, chairs
  • beanbags
  • skipping ropes
  • hoops
  • low bench or beam
  • soft balls
  • masking tape or chalk for line marking
  • ribbons, crepe paper.
