How does the teaching of fundamental movement skills fit into teaching gymnastics?

Fundamental movement skills are the building blocks of movement. They are the skills which children need to participate successfully in all types of games, physical activities and sports. Gymnastics is another opportunity teachers should use to explicitly teach fundamental movement skills. The fundamental movement skills taught in gymnastics are: static balance, sprint run, vertical jump, hop, side gallop, skip and leap.
