Units of work
The following section focuses on teaching and learning activities for dance. It contains seven units of work, each unit consisting of six lessons.
Each unit of work is designed as a whole unit, in sequence from lesson 1 through to lesson 6. The duration of each lesson will vary with the age and experience of the class. Each of the lessons is derived from the theme of the overall unit e.g. “water”, and is evident through the activities. While this theme is constant, there is sufficient variety within the unit to sustain the children’s interest. Different types of movements, movement of the whole-body and parts of the body, variations on the elements of dance and a variety of stimulus materials, are all included.
