Public lesson study
Lesson Study is a model of professional development designed to assist teachers produce quality lesson plans and gain a better understanding of student learning in mathematics.The lesson study model was used in a public forum of approximately 150 teachers. The lessons were taught in various New South Wales schools and video taped. They were then viewed in a public forum consisting of teachers and consultants. After each lesson was viewed, discssion occurred about the content and flow of the lesson as to whether the lesson goals were achieved and how the lesson could be improved. The principal, classroom teacher and consultant were a part of the discussion panel.
