Teaching Methodology workshops

In 2005, the Languages Unit ran workshops in Teaching Methodology for Aboriginal Languages in Bathurst and Armidale.  The workshops are designed for community language tutors, classroom teachers and anyone who is part of a school Aboriginal language team. The workshop is a two-day introduction to language teaching methodology and covers such topics as: theories of language learning, the common features of Aboriginal languages, developing a language program and how language learning can support literacy skills.

If you have not yet attended this course, and would like to, please contact the Aboriginal Languages Consultant.

Other Workshops

We are encouraging schools that are running programs in the same or closely-related languages to work together developing resources and teaching strategies. To support this, workshops on other topics can be run for schools in your area if there is sufficient demand. For example, Quality Teaching for Aboriginal Languages or short workshops focussing on elements of teaching methodology such as programming, activites or assessment.

Please let the Aboriginal Languages Consultant know what professional development support you require.
