Cross curriculum
Within the context of Human Society and its Environment there are a wide range of opportunities to engage students with cross curriculum links.
The syllabus outcomes and related subject matter are inclusive of a number of perspective, such as Aboriginal, Asian studies and Civics and citizenship perspectives. The syllabus provides specific skills and values and attitudes that are integral to the teaching of these perspectives.
HSIE provides support for Environmental education within the Environment strand. The HSIE skill of Social and civic participation and the values and attitudes relating to Ecological sustainability are integral to environmental education.
HSIE provides many opportunites to both utilise literacy, numeracy and ict learnings in a meaningful context.
Individual gifted and talented students in HSIE can be given deeper and more complex tasks on the subject matter of their stage of learning. For gifted and talented students who have been accelerated into another stage for all subjects, these students should access the HSIE content of the accelerated stage.
