Workshops

English professional development opportunities for 2008.

In Semester 1, 2008 English Programming Support workshops will be offered throughout NSW.

These practical workshops cover how to plan, program and assess English in the context of 6 KLAs. Participants will use new English programming support materials developed alongside Connected Outcome Groups (COGs) materials to write an English program for a school term. After the one day workshop, there will also be opportunities to trial and share programs and strategies through online discussions and video conferences.

Suitable for early career and established teachers who:

  • want the 'what', 'when' and 'how' of English
  • have trialled COGs units

Teachers who attended the English and COGs two day workshops in 2007 may also find these workshops useful as they will be using additional support materials and strategies not yet published.

Making Middle Years Matter in English workshops will also be offered throughout NSW.

These workshops are designed for teachers who want to make a difference for students Years 5 to 9 in English. The focus is on a meaningful and practical collaboration by developing an innovative approach to the study of novel to film. This workshop provides the opportunity for teachers to extend and share their expertise in the teaching of reading and the grammar of film.

Suitable for primary and secondary teachers who:

  • build on current knowledge
  • learn more about Stage 3 and 4 English
  • create and trial an innovative unit of work
