K-6 workshops
Creative Arts in a Virtual Space
A one day practical workshop in podcasting for K-12 creative arts teachers (drama, dance, music & visual arts). Teachers will apply their knowledge of an art form to new technologies which allow students to collaborate in presentations through the internet. In this workshop teachers will make and exhibit new art forms in a virtual space as well as use technology to document and share current art-making practice. Sessions will cover an introduction to methods of working with still images, sound, music, text and video through Mac software such as iPhoto, iWeb, iMovie and Garageband. By the end of the day teachers will experience podcasting and have an opportunity to develop their expertise with trainers from NIDA and Apple. No previous experience is required. This course is available for both primary and secondary teachers.
