Welcome to Road Safety Education
The Department of Education and Communities contributes to the reduction of injuries and fatalities by providing coherent, sequential and effective road safety education.
Road safety education:
- is taught in NSW public schools within the key learning area of Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE). PDHPE is mandatory for all students from Kindergarten to Year 10.
- focuses on the development of knowledge, values, attitudes and behaviours to enable all students to be safer road users
- aims to develop positive attitudes and safe behaviours in children and young people as present and future road users (passengers, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers).
