Literacy Online
LARK (Literacy Action Research Kit) Online
LARK Online is a professional development program which provides support for school teams to implement change with a literacy focus in a structured, reflective approach. School teams work through the program with the support of online mentors and the state literacy unit. Each school team is required to access the LARK web site regularly, participate in online discussions, implement action plans within their school, attend a compulsory workshop as a team and complete a school learning portfolio.

Literacy in the Middle Years of Schooling
The initiative has been developed to improve the outcomes of students in the middle years of schooling in literacy, measured by national literacy benchmark standards (Years 5 and 7) and NSW statewide testing using the Basic Skills Test, English and Language Literacy Assessment (ELLA) and other systemic data. The middle years are defined as Years 5 to Years 9, or students aged 10 to 14 years.
Clusters of primary and secondary schools, or central schools, engage in action research to investigate strategies to better meet the needs of adolescent learners and improve literacy outcomes.
