Teaching Reading: a K-6 framework aims to provide a guide to the systematic teaching of reading from Kindergarten to Year 6 within the context of the English K-6 Syllabus. Understanding reading is an explanation of the elements of reading while teaching and learning covers programming, assessment and strategies. Organising for instruction suggests organisation of literacy sessions and text selection. Also included are teaching and learning programs and examples. Many programming ideas are included in this text.

Teaching reading in... series, 1997 ISBN 0731083830 [428.407] This series is designed to help teachers put into practice the ideas in Teaching reading: a K-6 framework. Each book provides a guide to the implementation of a balanced reading program, information and proformas for the organisation of a daily literacy session, two teaching units and information for teachers on using the book to support their own professional learning. The teaching units are structured in a two week daily format and include instructions on preparation, student assessment and evaluation. Each book has an accompanying brochure that includes strategies for the effective use of the book.
