Definitions

The definitions of the terms giftedness and talent provided here are those adopted in the NSW Policy and implementation strategies for gifted and talented students (revised 2004). Clarification of what this might mean for parents and teachers is also discussed.

 

Identification

Information about the procedures and methods used for the identification of gifted students in the light of Gagné's definition may be accessed from this link.

 

Selective high schools and opportunity classes

Gifted and talented students are catered for by a range of programs in NSW public schools including opportunity classes, specialist and selective high schools and through extension programs in primary and secondary schools. Differentiating the curriculum
