• associate professor, History faculty, University of Western Sydney
• lectured in history at the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney
• currently seconded to the University of Lincoln in the U.K
• author of three books and many articles on right-wing politics and anti-communism in Australia and the social history of sport.
• first book, The Secret Army and the Premier, (NSWUP, 1989) was shortlisted for the Marjorie Barnard historical prize in 1990 and shed fresh light on the dismissal of J.T. Lang on 'Black Friday', 13 May 1932.
