Introducing
Imbosima
Imbosima was formed in 1992 for
Musica Viva In Schools. The group's
inspiration is the wonderful variety of musical sounds available to
contemporary Australia through migration, travel and
communication. This is reflected in its name,
Imbosima, which means to 'sow songs'.
Imbosima's influences have been the music of Africa
and Latin America with its long history of new and
mutual influences, migration and cultural interaction. The group members
attempt not merely to reproduce this music but to enlarge it within the context
of their own musical backgrounds.
