TEACHING IN THE MIDDLE YEARS

When teachers have high expectations for student achievement and intellectually challenging tasks, they create a learning environment in which students are encouraged to extend themselves. A teacher motivates and challenges her students

If they acquire significant information through observation and assessment about students’ achievements, teachers can monitor students’ achievements to refine and update their programs. Such evidence-based, data-focused approach to student learning allows teachers to guide and measure student improvement.

In that way, teachers can ensure that all students experience improvement in syllabus outcomes relative to their potential and identified learning needs.
