This unit of work is the culmination of a Linkages Project conducted between teachers at Carlingford High School and Beecroft and Roselea Primary Schools.

Students responded to the natural and built environment in a range of 2-D forms. They were encouraged to extend observational and interpretive skills as they explored drawing, ink wash and printing techniques.

Each session included making and appreciating activities and the development of literacy through the visual arts. Examples of scaffolded literacy activities (viewing, talking, reading and writing) are linked to each learning experience.

Student work samples in each session demonstrate significant learning in visual arts and literacy. A library of work samples is also provided.

Thanks to Pam Shepherd, Peter Jack, Pam Jones, Shan Krauth, Joanne Justic, Anne Palmer, Marion Smyth Reid and the Stage 3 students at Beecroft and Roselea for their significant contribution to the materials on this site.
