HSC Country Markers Transfer of Duty Program 2011
Attention:
Government school teachers in Hunter/Central Coast, Illawarra and South East, New England, North Coast, Riverina and Western NSW regions.
Since 1995 the Department and the Office of the Board of Studies have conducted the HSC Country Markers Transfer of Duty Program as one of a number of strategies to support country HSC teachers. This program has assisted country teachers, who have not marked the HSC, to be placed in metropolitan schools or in the Curriculum Directorate office while marking HSC papers at night.
This is an important professional development opportunity for teachers in country areas. It is expected that teachers participating in this process will share the knowledge and experience gained through HSC marking with their colleagues.
In 2011, the Department will continue to provide support for country teachers by co-ordinating the program and assisting in placing country teachers in either metropolitan schools or the the Curriculum and Learning Innovation Centre during the day.
However, given that the centrally held funds that were previously used to provide teacher relief for this program have been devolved to support teacher professional development, schools wishing to have teachers participate in this program will need to provide the necessary relief.
Application forms and other information about the program are available for download here.

Application form
Completed application forms need to reach the Curriculum Directorate by Friday 1 April 2011.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the process before the end of Term 3 to allow successful applicants to make arrangements for travel and accommodation. As in previous years, travel and accommodation costs for the duration of the marking exercise are the responsibility of individual teachers. In addition, it is now the responsibility of the school, to meet the relief costs for teachers who are participating in this program. Teachers will be paid Office of the Board of Studies rates for HSC marking.
