The Creative Arts Unit of Curriculum K-12 and the Priority Schools and Equity Coordination Unit of the NSW Department of Education and Training present Boys and the Arts - a website containing a range of innovative arts programs being conducted in NSW schools which improve learning outcomes for boys. Spanning the artforms of dance, drama, music and visual arts, the programs and teaching practices that have been found successful in improving outcomes for boys are presented as case studies.

The strategies outlined on this site are examples of teachers' expanding their repertoires of practice so as to address the diverse learning needs of individual boys. Not all boys will respond to all the strategies outlined on the site as boys are not a homogeneous group and do not all learn in the same ways. It is intended that the strategies be inclusive of girls. Teachers will find that there are strategies which address the needs of individual girls as well as the needs of individual boys.
