Welcome to Environmental and Sustainability Education
When environmental and sustainability education is incorporated into the school curriculum, students:
- learn about the environment
- develop skills to investigate and solve issues in the environment
- acquire attitudes of care and concern for the environment
- adopt behaviours and practices which protect the environment, and
- understand the principles of ecologically sustainable development

This intranet website provides information and guidance for DET staff on environmental and sustainability planning, action and achievement. Information is also available on the Award Recognition Program, which celebrates the "Year of Learning for Sustainability" in 2010 and encourages students, teachers and staff in schools, Institutes and Directorates to share their achievements and improvements in sustainability education and management.
