Food Technology

The following resources have been developed to support Stage 5 Food Technology.

Recipe calculator

The Technology unit in collaboration with the Technology Educators Association Inc has developed a budgeting planning tool, My recipe calculator, to allow students to cost recipes. Resources to support the use of this tool have been modified to suit student laptops through the use of Microsoft OneNote.

Food in Australia

Bush foods (pdf 13.3 MB) provides ideas and resources for teaching the Food in Australia component of the Year 9 Food Technology syllabus. Activities include using Freemind for mind mapping, using web site content and video clips to gather information, participation in online quizzes and using Microsoft PowerPoint to create presentations.

Watch This Space

The Watch this space resources were generated as a result of a series of fortnightly videoconferences held in Semester1, 2010.  The videoconferences featured teachers using the Digital Education Revolution laptops and provided tips for a range of Adobe and Google softwares. 

Centre for Learning Innovation (CLI)

CLI provides a range of resources suitable for Stage 5 Food Technology:

Design cafe comprises a suite of resources offering a wide range of media experiences to provide a multi-sensory learning experience. These include interactive quizzes, matching activities, videos etc. The paper based activities are a series of Microsoft Word documents.

Sites2See: What can we do to fight obesity? This web site allows students to answer questions about food and nutrition, particularly the health risks from being overweight. Students can download dietary guidelines and find sport and recreation clubs and facilities in their region. The site also provides Food Technology syllabus links.
