Network 1

The schools participating in Network 1 were selected from schools involved in the development of the COGs units during Semester 2, 2005.

In 2006, teachers in the 5 schools making up Network 1, provided feedback on the COGs units by:

using the COGs units in their programming and teaching
using the assessment tasks within the COGs units to assess their students' work
gathering samples of work from their students to share with other teachers
participating in assessment and moderation of student work samples
providing feedback on their teaching of the COGs units
participating in evaluation for the project

Schools in Network 1 completed their participation in the project in December 2006.

Collaboration

Teachers worked in school teams and collaboratively across schools to share their knowledge of COGs units, their programming and planning and their use of the assessment tasks. As the teachers taught the COGs units, they collected worksamples which resulted from the assessment tasks in the units.

Using an online discussion board, teachers shared their progress, and posted the worksamples from their students. Each worksample was accompanied by a description and an assessment by the teacher including a grade at Sound, Above or Below.

Teachers paired with a colleague teaching the same stage but in a different school, to moderate each other’s assessment and provide feedback on the student work.

The worksample packages were collected by Curriculum K-12 Directorate and KLA curriculum officers edited the materials for publication on the Internet.
